This is why your social media content isn’t converting into clients

It sucks, doesn’t it?

You’ve spent all that time and effort on putting out posts with loads of juicy details, and yet… There’s no enquiries coming through.

You’re getting a few likes and some replies on your stories, even the occasional DM from someone telling you how much they loved your most recent post…

But getting clients from social media? Pretty much unheard of at this point.

It all comes down to one problem:
You haven’t given your content jobs to do.

social media marketing strategy for service-based business owners

Your content needs to do more than get likes and comments

It’s a mistake I see service-based business owners making with their social media content all the time - their content looks good and they’re posting regularly, but it’s missing the whole point of turning followers into paying clients.

Social media content exists to move people from:
“yeah that was pretty cool” → “OH MY GOD I need to work with them YESTERDAY!

If your content isn’t doing that, then it’s no wonder you’re not making sales from your posts.

How do I turn my content into sales?

You need to first check out what your current content is already doing:

  • Is it being completely ignored?

  • Is it getting attention, but not giving people a reason to trust you and your work?

  • Is it giving a lot of free tips and advice, that doesn’t create a desire to want to know more?

  • Is it entertaining, missing out on showing why you’re the one they should work with?

  • Is it fully focussed on selling to people every single time?

If you’re only posting to sell at your audience or copying every single trend that comes across your feed, you’re not growing your audience or building trust with them that leads them to wanting to work with you.

But people are engaging with my content, isn’t that enough?

Sorry to break it to you honey, but there’s a massive difference between someone enjoying what you’re posting and seeing themselves within what you’re posting.

You might just be hilarious and people follow you for the giggles, but no matter how much they like and comment, they’re never going to buy from you. It’s because they’re not your ideal client, so they’re not properly connecting with what you’re talking about and selling.

That’s why you can be doing every single thing that you feel you’re meant to be doing, and still not have people jumping into your DMs to work with you.

Your social media content has three jobs to do.

If you want to convert followers into clients, then your social media content strategy needs to be doing these three things:

  1. Attracting the right people

  2. Building trust and connection with them

  3. Move them towards working with you

To attract the right people, your content has got to get very specific on the types of people you want to work with. They need to see your posts and immediately know that it has been made for them, encouraging them to stick around and see what else you’ve got. If you’re trying to pull in everyone who has money to spend, then you’re going to sell to no one.

When you’re building trust and connection, your audience have to feel like you deeply understand them and the situation they’re in. They’ve got to know that you’re able to help them so that you’re top of their mind when it comes time for them in invest in solving their problem.

Moving people to work with you has nothing to do with ick sales tactics and telling them there’s only one spot left. Instead, you want to make it super clear on what you do, who your work is for, what transformation/outcome they’ll get from working with you, and how they can take that next step to getting you involved. If you don’t add this in, your content is just fun to look at.

why my content isn’t getting clients

Posting more content isn’t going to help

If you’re not getting enquiries or sales, deciding to post more of the same content isn’t going to help either.

You haven’t fixed the original problem, and are going to waste your time making content that doesn’t move people from stranger to client.

You need to have a social media content strategy

Yes, your hooks might need to get better and it doesn’t do any hard to polish up your content, but you need to make sure you’re posting content that attracts those ideal clients and builds trust with them first, otherwise you’ll never move them towards working with you.

This is what makes your offers feel like the natural next step, instead of something that has been forced upon them.
